La Paz Fish Species

La Paz has two fishing seasons throughout the year.  The High Season runs from mid-April through November with the summer peak occurring from June through October.  This is the best time to catch awesome billfish and other large pelagic fish.  The most common catches during this season include: Striped Marlin, Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado (Mahi-mahi), Wahoo, and Roosterfish.

The winter season lasts from December until mid-April with consistently good fishing throughout.  The most common catches during the winter season include: Yellowtail, Cabrillo, Roosterfish, Snapper, Dorado, Amberjack, Sierra, Sea Bass and other bottom fish species.  The occasional billfish may also be caught during the winter season.

We practice catch and release for all billfish, however tuna, dorado (mahi-mahi), wahoo, bass, and snapper are all excellent eating fish and harvest limits are more than adequate to fill your cooler.  There is nothing better than cooking up the fresh catch of the day, and it always tastes better when you’ve caught it yourself.
