La Paz Mexico Fishing
La Paz is, quite simply, a fantastic deep sea charter fishing location. Just 90 miles from the tip of the Baja Peninsula, the nutrient rich waters of the Sea of Cortez feed unbelievable numbers of bait fish. These bait fish attract giant billfish and other pelagic species. Along the many seamounts and near shore in the cooler months of winter snapper, dorado, roosterfish, and many other species thrive. This jewel of the sea has such a thriving and diverse fish population that Jaques Cousteau named La Paz the “Aquarium of the World”. All year long, La Paz is the place to go for an unforgettable Baja charter fishing vacation.
Captain Tatterson and our crew know the fishing trends in La Paz. Our extensive knowledge of the area, coupled with the Terrafin water temperature data tracking allows us to best determine what species to target, what gear to use, and where to go to best find the fish. During the high season, we generally start trolling until we locate a concentration of baitfish, or find other signs of game fish, such as a current line, water temperature line, or weed line. At this time we tend to switch to slow trolling with live bait and/or casting. Then, let the excitement begin! There is no bigger thrill than battling a giant marlin, high flying sailfish, feisty dorado, or monster tuna on the smooth, calm waters of the Sea of Cortez.
During the winter season, our focus is on live bait fishing on and near the seamounts for yellowtail, Cabrillo, snapper, and smaller schooling dorado, as well as inshore fishing for roosterfish, sierra and other local species. The waters off La Paz are just plain loaded with great fish, promising some real rod-bending fun!
With the slow paced, old world charm of the city, the pristine beauty of the Sea of Cortez, awesome weather, and some of the greatest sportfishing in the world, any time of year is a great time to join us for a charter fishing vacation in La Paz.
