La Paz Weather Conditions

La Paz has great weather year round.  The only issue that affects fishing is higher wind and seas during the late winter, around March.  However, La Paz has many islands off its shores and the lee sides of these islands are generally well protected and provide good fishing on windy days.  Occasionally, a tropical storm may appear in late summer, August through October, but forecasting is good and all trips can be planned around these occasional storms.

Average air temperatures are warm year round.  Summer is the warmest with high temperatures in the 90’s from July through August, while December through February brings the coldest weather with highs in the mid 60’s to 70 degrees.  La Paz can boast more than 300 days of sunshine per year, with minimal sporadic rainfall.

Early morning and evening temperatures in the winter months can dip down into the 50’s, so it is a good idea to bring a sweater or light jacket along, but make sure to wear your swimsuit the rest of the time because a midday dip in the ocean is a refreshing treat.

The biggest weather factor that influences fishing is water temperature.  The warmer water of summer can attract the big billfish and pelagic species while cooler currents on winter attract many fish species to the seamounts.  Currents are constantly changing, and our Terrafin water temperature tracking subscription makes it easier for us to track the trends and keep us on the fish.
